International Students: Adjustments to Immigration Advising Services

Office of Global Learning
COVID
Immigration

Dear Ithaca campus students,

Due to Cornell’s additional measures of maximizing social distancing and minimizing the spread of COVID-19, the Office of Global Learning is temporarily adjusting immigration advising services. We are providing in-person support only for students with urgent travel needs, and we are moving to email for less urgent (time-sensitive) services.

Effective today, walk-in advising will only be available for travel signatures, document pick-up (such as EAD, I-20, and DS-2019), and urgent advising questions. Students visiting Caldwell Hall in person will be asked to wait in the hallway outside the International Services office and to enter the advising space one at a time.

All other services, including CPT, OPT, tax questions, and extensions more than one month in the future, should be submitted via email (international@cornell.edu). We have a mailbox outside the door to the office where students may drop off documents. As always, students can call or email to set an appointment.

While processing times for non-urgent services have slowed, we remain committed to the swiftest turnaround possible. We are working diligently to address all of our community’s needs at this unprecedented time. As the situation is fluid, we may find it necessary to modify our walk-in operations further.

Remember: if you change your physical address within the U.S., you must notify us within 10 days.

Thank you for your understanding as we adapt our services to meet the needs of the community during this time of transition.

Best,

Office of Global Learning International Services
