Immigration Resources Recap

Office of the Vice Provost
Immigration

Dear students, staff, and faculty:

We know many of you have concerns and questions about your immigration status and applications, travel, and research funding. In this time of uncertainty, know that Cornell supports and stands by its immigrant and international community. Leadership and staff are working diligently to understand the changing federal landscape and how that impacts Cornell and universities around the nation.

Understanding that new orders are being issued, and information can change unexpectedly, we want to share current immigration resources and guidance from Cornell to help you, your families, and your friends navigate this stressful moment.

  • The university is supporting a resource for Cornell community members across the Ithaca, Weill Cornell Medicine, and Cornell Tech campuses who wish to consult with a local law firm regarding their immigration status. This resource does not include legal representation but provides an opportunity to discuss options with an immigration lawyer. For more details and contact information, see this page.
  • Please bookmark Cornell's Information on Executive Orders website and check it regularly for up-to-date information.
  • International Services will keep you informed about important policy changes that may directly affect you. Please continue to watch your email and check International Services alerts and the Global Cornell immigration resource page regularly. If you do not currently receive mail from IS, please contact an advisor here. They can answer questions and add you to the listserv.
  • We recommend carrying some form of picture identification at all times.
  • Be on guard against scammers who may try to take advantage of this moment to demand money or personal information. If you are in doubt by any call, email or outreach you receive, contact the Public Safety Communications Center.
  • If you are ever unsure where to go, email the vice provost of international affairs (vpia@cornell.edu) and she will get you to the right place based on your needs.

We hope you’ll take advantage of campus support resources to take good care of your health and wellness. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to International Services. Cornell has a strong immigrant and international community, and our network has a long history of helping each other.

All our best,

Wendy Wolford, Vice Provost for International Affairs
Marla Love, Dean of Students
Christine Lovely, Vice President of Human Resources
