The opportunity to work abroad during the summer and do research at another top university is what attracted me to the program. 

Broadening the inclusiveness and internationalism of our community here—and cultivating research and learning that emerges from these exchanges—is one of the most exciting potentials of Cornell Global Hubs.

NUS is heartened to be on board with the Cornell Global Hubs initiative. Cornell's recent interdisciplinary salons included six NUS faculty members engaging with Cornell and other Global Hubs academics. It's exciting to see what lies ahead for our collaboration.

Take the leap of faith. It is so easy to push it off and say that you can do it later, but there is truly no other experience like this—one that is so unique, rewarding, and fun.

I loved studying in Ecuador, because our classes involved a lot of fieldwork directly in the ocean, I was able to practice a language, and eat a lot of really delicious foods.

The opportunity to work with Cornell on Global Hubs will foster our shared agenda to promote excellence in research that will continually produce new knowledge for sustainable development.

The University of Ghana is proud to partner with Cornell Global Hubs. The cross-cultural partnership is a great opportunity to share ideas, resources, and expertise to broaden the perspective and knowledge base of students and faculty who have the opportunity to participate.

My time in Singapore has influenced my future plans by expanding my world views and widening my career choices. My experience working in a lab and meeting people of varying backgrounds and career paths has allowed me to realize my love for research and intercultural exchange.

I plan to pursue a master’s of public health degree, so this hands-on experience and research is great preparation for future projects. The immersive and interactive component of the program allowed me to engage with the local indigenous communities and experience Indian culture firsthand.

I am so fortunate to be able to work in a research setting with such a welcoming group of scientists dedicated to ecological conservation, and I feel immensely grateful to have had this opportunity.

My time in Ghana allowed me to fully immerse myself in a new culture and environment. I enjoyed having the chance to try Ghanaian cuisine and improve my Twi language. Throughout my internship, I was able to work with various Ghanian government agencies as well as the education system.

While in Europe, I learned about and experienced firsthand the differences in the healthcare systems across nations. I’ve been actively applying my knowledge from abroad to my classes at Cornell. It’s so amazing to approach my learning from multiple perspectives.

As someone with a background different from the average American, [freedom of expression] allows me to articulate alternative viewpoints, and I'm grateful for the open-mindedness of the Cornell community.

Freedom of expression is being yourself, your vision, or your choice. It means giving a chance to create and shape the reality as you want it, as you feel it. It makes humans different yet unites [us] all together.

To me, freedom of expression is the universal right to express one's opinions and thoughts while respecting others. This means that I can say and think whatever I want without having to worry about punishment. However, with the power of free speech comes great responsibility. We should therefore be aware of what we say and how it might affect both ourselves and others.

[We can decolonize international education] by building partnerships that decenter 'Western' epistemologies, toward the co-creation of knowledge and solutions to our most pressing problems.

[Freedom of Expression] means we can speak our minds freely. Everyone can have an equal chance to speak out without being afraid of suppression, threat, or sanction.

My reason for studying abroad was to experience a different culture and to gain a life skill from it. By going to Hong Kong, I was able to pursue Mandarin classes and also experience a very different culture.

I spent 10 weeks at Ashoka University as a Global Intern. I loved being able to connect my classroom knowledge to laboratory research, all while immersing myself in the rich and vibrant culture of India.
