Call for Proposals: Global Hubs Research Seed Grants

Cornell faculty are invited to apply for competitive $5,000 Global Hubs Research Seed Grants to initiate or expand collaborative research with select Global Hubs partner universities. Seed grants provide early-stage support for projects with strong potential to generate long-term international partnerships and attract external funding.

Application deadline: October 15, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. ET

Overview

The grants are open to Cornell principal investigators in all academic fields. Funded projects are expected to:

  • Establish new research partnerships through meetings, workshops, or pilot studies; or
  • Strengthen existing collaborations by exploring new directions or enhancing research capacity;
  • Produce tangible outcomes, including at least one joint publication and one application for external grant funding.

Up to 20 awards of $5,000 will be made in this cycle. All research topics and disciplines are eligible. Projects must be structured to comply with applicable U.S. and partner country regulations.


Eligibility

  • Applicants must meet Cornell’s PI eligibility criteria. Graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and research staff may participate but cannot serve as PIs.
  • Cornell (Ithaca), Cornell Tech, and Cornell AgriTech faculty are eligible to apply. WCM faculty are not eligible to apply as PIs in this grant cycle.
  • Projects must include collaboration with at least one colleague at an eligible Global Hubs partner university (see list below).
