Copenhagen Business School
Copenhagen Business School (CBS) is a public research university established in 1917, focusing on business administration and economics. It has Triple Crown accreditation and with 20,000 students, is one of the largest business schools in Europe.

CBS offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs with an interdisciplinary and international focus. Wide-ranging social sciences and humanities classes enable students to explore business issues in broader political, cultural, and social contexts. The CBS campus is located in Frederiksberg, close to the center of Copenhagen, and is well connected by public transportation, making the city's architecture, art, food, and fashion easily accessible.
The CBS Student Experience
More than 4,000 international students are enrolled in CBS each year. There are cultural immersion opportunities, mentorship/buddy programs, and Danish language programs for exchange students to help them acclimatize to the country. Learn more about the international student experience.
The International Summer University Program has 2,300 participants from 50 countries. This includes international exchange students, students from Denmark, and professionals looking to further develop their skills. The program runs for three to six weeks and offers over 50 courses in business and other academic disciplines.
Research Themes at CBS
- Big Data, AI, and New Media: The Digital Transformation platform focuses on digital and technological developments' economic and societal implications.
- Inequalities and Social Justice: Inequality Platform addresses the causes and consequences of inequality. It brings together CBS researchers from across departments to provide an interdisciplinary perspective on inequality. The Diversity and Difference Platform engages with diversity management, workplace diversity, migration, integration, and gender and sexuality.
- Sustainable Development: CBS Green Transition initiative aims to facilitate and coordinate research and educational initiatives on sustainability. Sustainable business practices are a critical topic for CBS and a vital research area that promotes Danish companies pioneering corporate sustainability.
Technical University of Denmark
The Technical University of Denmark (DTU), founded in 1829, is Denmark's first polytechnic. It is a EuroTech Universities Alliance member and rated highly for its engineering programs. DTU was established to leverage scientific progress in the service of society by applying technology. As a result, DTU is well-known for its success in transferring technology from the laboratory to the marketplace.

DTU has contributed to diverse fields such as design, wind energy, biotechnology, electronics, and telecommunication through research and innovation. DTU is located in Lundtoftesletten in the northeastern end of the city of Lyngby, near Copenhagen.
The DTU Student Experience
The DTU student body comes from 99 countries, and more than 1,100 exchange students are hosted annually. There are 1,200 courses in English at both undergraduate and graduate levels in the natural and technical sciences. Classes at DTU focus on integrating sustainability, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Exchange students can also join DTU Skylab, the university's innovation and entrepreneurship hub that helps students, start-ups, and researchers collaborate with businesses and organizations. DTU also offers study projects on green tech and sustainability where students can experiment and develop innovative solutions to challenges.
Research Themes at DTU
- Big Data, AI, and New Media: DTU is part of a consortium of universities led by the University of Copenhagen that has established the largest AI Center in Denmark to promote AI research, focusing on ethical aspects of the technology.
- Future Cities: The CITIES research center focuses on smart energy systems and smart cities.
- Sustainable Development: DTU Sustain specializes in environmental and resource engineering and seeks to develop new environmentally friendly and sustainable technologies, methods, and solutions.
University of Copenhagen
The University of Copenhagen (UCPH) is the second oldest institution of higher education in Scandinavia. The public university is the largest institution of education and research in Denmark.

UCPH has 37,500 students, 5,000 researchers, and over 200 research centers. Six faculties offer over 200 programs for study in health and medical sciences, humanities, law, science, social sciences, and theology. Sustainability is essential to the university, and they are working towards becoming the world's greenest campus.
The UCPH Student Experience
The International Summer Program offers over 30 courses at undergraduate and graduate levels in English and Danish. Classes take place in July and August and in a variety of disciplines. The university also offers an exchange program for a semester or an entire academic year. Incoming exchange students can also participate in the Mentor Program, which pairs exchange students with a Danish student to help newly arrived students get settled in and acclimatize with the university and city. - Big Data, AI, and New Media: Pioneer Centre for Artificial Intelligence, hosted by the university, is Denmark's leading AI research center.
- Inequalities and Social Justice: The Center for Economic Behavior and Inequality researches the role of behavior in generating inequality and the underlying sources of such behavioral inequality.
- Migration and Mobilities: The Center for Advanced Migration Studies focuses on moving populations, mobility practices, and regularized and forced migration.
- One Health: Research at the Department of Public Health contributes toward improving public health and provides insights into the connection between health and society.
- Sustainable Development: The Sustainability Science Center promotes interdisciplinary cooperation among researchers, businesses, and decision-makers.
Cornell Faculty Lead: Lee Humphreys
Professor and Chair, Department of Communication (CALS)
Lee Humphreys studies the social uses and perceived effects of communication technology. Her research has explored mobile phone use in public spaces, emerging norms on mobile social networks, and the privacy and surveillance implications of location-based services. Her recent scholarship tries to historicize social media into a broader context of communication practices. She often uses qualitative field methods to focus on how people integrate communication technology into their everyday lives to facilitate identity management and social interaction.
