Joint Research Seed Grants 2023
Global Cornell is offering competitive faculty grants in collaboration with several Global Hubs partners. Apply for funding to explore potential research collaborations with colleagues at Hubs universities.
Funded projects will run from January 1–December 31, 2024.
These seed grants bring faculty from partner institutions together to develop joint projects to strengthen Cornell and Global Hubs partner universities' strategic priorities and develop multidisciplinary cutting-edge research to create academic and societal impact.
Applications will open in June and close in October.

University of Edinburgh–Cornell
Up to five (5) research proposals will be funded. Each successful proposal may receive up to $5,000/£4,000 from each university for a total of $10,000/£8,000.
Hong Kong University of Science and Technology–Cornell
Up to five (5) research proposals will be funded. Each successful proposal may receive up to $5,000 from each university for a total of $10,000.
King's College London–Cornell
Up to five (5) research proposals will be funded. Each successful proposal may receive up to $5,000/£4,000 from each university for a total of $10,000/£8,000.
National University of Singapore–Cornell
Up to five (5) research proposals will be funded. Each successful proposal may receive up to $5,000 from each university for a total of $10,000.
University of Sydney–Cornell
Up to four (4) research proposals will be funded. Each successful proposal may receive up to $7,500/AUD10,000 from each university for a total of $15,000/AUD 20,000.
University College London–Cornell
Up to five (5) research proposals will be funded. Each successful proposal may receive up to $5,000/£4,000 from each university for a total of $10,000/£8,000.
Universidad San Francisco de Quito–Cornell
Up to five (5) research proposals will be funded. Each successful proposal may receive up to $5,000 from each university for a total of $10,000.
Eligibility
- Faculty are welcome to apply for more than one grant program beginning in June. Requests for Proposals (RFP) and sample applications will be available for download for each grant opportunity.
- Grants are open to all PI-eligible faculty at Cornell from any academic discipline.
- Each grant requires at least one PI from Cornell and one from the Global Hub partner. Additional collaborators are welcome but not required.
- In this round, no specific research themes will be required.
- Global Cornell and Global Hubs partners will jointly determine project awards.
